Pamela SlavskyPamela Slavsky
In early 1998, at a Costa Rican wedding remembered fondly for its live band and tasty rum drinks, if not for the longevity of the union, Pamela Slavsky's somewhat orderly life was hijacked by the seductive and compelling rhythms of salsa music, also known as mambo. She has been studying and dancing salsa passionately ever since.

Pamela has learned both follower's and leader's parts from many highly regarded instructors in Boston and New York City, including April Genovese, Andres Giraldo, and Mambo King Eddie Torres. In 2001 she created Salsalegre with two fellow salseros to teach and promote Latin dance in the MetroWest area. In the spring of 2003 she began teaching her own classes under the name SalsaHappens at Providence Tango dance studio in Rhode Island. Her teaching focuses on technique to maximize the pleasure, connection, and creativity of social dancing.

During this time Pamela has also studied and danced Argentine tango together with her husband. Between the two dances, she spends many nights of the week dancing socially. The practicality and spirit of what she teaches is influenced by being an active part of both dance communities. She continues to study salsa and tango formally and has traveled to Cuba and Argentina to learn and dance incessantly.

Pamela has a B.A. in social psychology and is also a graphic designer.
